Bedding

Our sheets are made from 400 thread count, 37mm extra-long staple cotton in order to guarantee long-lasting, soft and comfortable bed sheets.

Many suppliers focus on the type of cotton, be it Supima, Egyptian or regular cotton. We found that the name of the cotton means little – cotton suppliers of different regions brand their cotton to command a higher premium with no impact on quality. What really mattered was the length of the staple and most sheets sold elsewhere used short-staple cotton. We invested in 37mm extra-long staple cotton (short-staple cotton = 29mm, long-staple cotton = 32mm) for our bedding, providing a smooth, soft touch for blissful sleep.

Thread count is often misrepresented and doesn’t actually indicate quality, what matters more is the quality of the fibre, the weave and fabric finishes. However thread count will affect the thickness and feel of the sheets.

In the market, you will see thread counts ranging from 50 to 1500. After thorough research and endless testing, we found that thread count matters – up to a certain level. Anything more than 500 thread count is highly suspicious and is seemed to be purely marketing.

We believe in the Goldilocks Principle. Our optimal thread count was 400 to guarantee long-lasting, soft and comfortable sheets without it being too thick and suffocating us in our humid weather.

For super king sheets, we manufacture 35cm (13.8 inches) deep-pocket bed sheets to account for almost all mattress heights.

For all other sizes, we manufacture 40cm (15-16 inches) deep-pocket bed sheets.

Yes, they do, and it’s a good thing! Anti-wrinkle sheets are made with formaldehyde (a known carcinogenic substance used for anti-wrinkle treatment). Since your skin will be in contact with our sheets for roughly 8 hours each day, our sheets are Oeko-Tex® certified with each and every component, i.e. every thread, button and accessory, has been tested to ensure no harmful substances, keeping you and your family safe.

However, our sheets do tend to wrinkle and pill less than other poorer cotton sheets due to its longer staple cotton fibres.

Specially made for Asian beds, our sheets have been carefully measured to fit most beds while providing extra leeway to account for cotton shrinkage.

Care - bedding

For softer bedsheets, for the first wash, add 1 cup of baking soda to your wash cycle and 1⁄2 cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle. We have tested this multiple times and it has a huge impact towards the softness of your sheets.

Kapas sheets will get softer and better with every wash. To maintain quality and longevity they should be changed every 7-10 days. Machine wash in cool to warm water that’s less than 40°C with like colours and fabrics, using a small amount of good quality liquid detergent (usually around half of the recommended detergent amount).

Avoid using fabric softeners and chlorine bleach. For more information on product care please see our Care Guide

We highly recommend line drying for our sheets. Although not ideal, you can also tumble dry cotton bedding using a low heat setting to prevent shrinkage.

We also recommend removing the sheets before the cycle ends and shaking out the creases (much easier when the sheets are still a little damp!).

Replace sheets when they show obvious signs of ageing such as fraying, stains or fading colour. Pillowcases will require more frequent replacement.

To extend the life of your sheets, store them out of sunlight, in a cool, dry area and not in plastic containers which promote yellowing and mildew. To keep your linen cupboard neat and finding sheets a breeze, store each set in its matching pillowcase.

Duvets

Our down duvet insert is made from a high down to feather ratio, ideal for our warm weather. It is encased in 100% 300TC soft, silky cotton sateen.

Our cotton duvet insert is made of 100% cotton-fill and encased in 350TC of cotton sateen.

Our alternative down duvet is made from 100% siliconized hollow fiber and encased in 100% cotton sateen casing.

Down is the light, fluffy coating beneath the feathers of ducks and geese. Each down cluster is made from thousands of tiny fibers, like little cotton balls between the bird’s skin and feathers. Ounce per ounce down is the most efficient insulator for bedding products. It is not only lighter weight, but also has the unique ability to “breathe”, allowing excess heat and humidity to escape and allowing you to reach an ideal temperature.

Down clusters are naturally very durable, it is not uncommon for people to use a down bedding item for a dozen years or more before replacing it.

Down is also naturally flame retardant, making it an excellent choice for safe sleeping.

Our down duvets are made from down and feathers, while our cotton duvets are made from cotton. Our alternative down is made from a synthetic fiber called siliconized hollow fiber. All three are encased in 100% cotton sateen for a cool, breathable experience.

The down duvet will give a ‘poofier’ feel, similar to a 5-star hotel bed, while the cotton duvet has a weightier, thinner feel. The alternative down insert mimics the down feeling.

If you are allergic to feathers and prefer a hypoallergenic duvet, the cotton or alternative down duvet is more suitable. It is also more economical compared to the down duvet.

However, if you’re looking for that ‘cloud-like’ sleep experience, the down duvet is the way to go.

Don’t worry, this is completely normal!

That crinkly noise of the duvet is due to the downproof cotton casing, which prevents the feathers from escaping. With gradual use over time, these threads will eventually soften up, and the crinkly sound will reduce gradually.

However, if the noise bothers you, do opt for our cotton duvet inserts instead.

You do not need to wash your duvet regularly as it is protected by the duvet cover.

Down duvet: Spot cleaning is recommended for small stains with mild soap and water. You should dry-clean your duvet only if absolutely necessary as it will shorten the lifespan of the duvet. Do not bleach. Fluff regularly for even fill distribution.

Cotton duvets: Spot clean for mild stains. Dry-clean only. Machine washing will result in some shrinkage and is not recommended.

Alternative down duvets: Spot clean for mild stains. Dry-clean only.

Both our down and alternative down duvet inserts are OEKO-TEX certified, which means they are free from harmful chemicals.

Our down duvet is also Responsible Down Standard (“RDS”) certified. The Responsible Down Standard (RDS) aims to ensure that down and feathers come from animals that have not been subjected to any unnecessary harm.

Our cotton duvet filling is made from unbleached natural cotton without using any chemicals.

Similar to our down duvet, it is also Responsible Down Standard (“RDS”) certified. The Responsible Down Standard (RDS) aims to ensure that down and feathers come from animals that have not been subjected to any unnecessary harm.

Please spot clean your pillow. When absolutely necessary, gentle wash the pillow in the washing machine and dry on low heat. Please check washing instructions for more details on washing the various pillows.

Bath, towels & mat

Wash your towels in a gentle cycle with mild detergent, avoiding optical brighteners which may cause discolouration.

Optional: To achieve softer towels, add 1 cup of baking soda to your wash cycle and ½ cup of white vinegar to the rise cycle.

Chemical residue (such as those from detergents and fabric softeners) and grime may build up over time and make your towels feel rough and less absorbent. The combination of baking soda and vinegar will help remove them and restore your towels to their original, soft and fluffy feel.

In addition, baking soda will also naturally eliminate musty odours and leave your towel smelling fresh and clean.

Use this method for your first wash and repeat every 6 weeks or so. Wash with a lighter load and avoid fabric softeners and bleach.

We highly recommend tumble drying your towels. It will make your towel soft and fluffy, but remember to use a low heat setting as high temperatures from the dryer can damage the cotton fibres and cause towel shrinkage.

If you line dry your towels, shake the towels out well before hanging them up or toss them into the dryer on a cool setting to fluff up the cotton fibres and soften your towel.

Dry in a well-ventilated shaded area as strong sunlight causes fading and makes the towels hard.

Occasionally, you may catch the towel while washing or using it and some cotton loops on your towel may come loose. That is perfectly normal. As our Kapas towels are woven, a pulled loop will not unravel the towel or compromise its softness. Just use a pair of scissors to cut off the pulled loop and continue enjoying your soft, fluffy Kapas towels!

Our KapasLUXE collection is made from 100% extra-long staple cotton

The LUXE collection is made from the highest grade of cotton which results in the softest towels ever. Even without tumble drying, these towels come out super soft. Also, in terms of absorbency the LUXE collection has high absorbency compared to all towels in the market.
